About KPS

Clearing the way. Building your dream.

Northeast Kansas Excavation, Pond Construction & Land Clearing — Done Right, Every Time.

About KPS Excavation

KPS Excavation is a family-owned excavation and land improvement company based in Meriden, Kansas. Founded by Luke Mace, KPS was built on a simple belief: every project deserves to be done right the first time.

Over the past several years, KPS has grown into one of Northeast Kansas’s most trusted names in pond construction, land clearing, site preparation, and general excavation — serving property owners, farmers, and rural landowners across Kansas and the Kansas City region.

We’re not a large corporate outfit. We’re local people who care deeply about the work we do and the land we work on. When you hire KPS, you get Luke and his crew — experienced operators who take pride in the quality and craftsmanship of every job, no matter the size.

What We Do

KPS Excavation handles the full range of earthwork and land improvement services, including:

Pond construction, dredging, and restoration — new ponds built to last, and aging ponds brought back to life
Land clearing and property cleanup — from overgrown fence rows to full-scale clearing for new builds
Site preparation and building pads — graded and ready for homes, shops, barns, and barndominiums
General excavation and dirt work — grading, drainage, driveways, and everything in between
Residential and rural demolition — structure removal and site cleanup done safely and efficiently

Our equipment fleet includes excavators, dozers, and skid steers — professional-grade machines operated by experienced hands who know how to use them correctly.

Why Quality Matters to Us

In excavation, shortcuts show up fast. A poorly built dam fails. A poorly graded pad cracks. A drainage problem that wasn’t addressed right becomes a bigger, more expensive problem down the road. That’s why KPS focuses on doing things correctly — proper compaction, correct grades, sound dam construction, and drainage solutions that actually work. We take the time to evaluate each property and each project individually, because no two pieces of land are the same. Our goal isn’t just to finish the job. It’s to build something that performs for years to come.

Locally Rooted, Proud of It

We’re based in Meriden, Kansas — right in the heart of Northeast Kansas. We know this land, we know these communities, and we’re invested in doing good work here.

Our service area covers Shawnee, Jefferson, and Jackson counties, along with Topeka, Lawrence, Manhattan, Holton, Oskaloosa, Baldwin City, and the surrounding region. We also regularly travel for the right projects throughout Kansas and the Kansas City area of Missouri.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great work from a solid and honest company. Luke didn't let the extreme Kansas heat stop him from doing the job including one day of over 12 hours. Follow up contact to make sure the job was done to satisfaction is customer service many companies don't do. He even did extra work that he saw that just needed done and picked up trash that had blown onto the property. He cares not only about the job but his customers and Kansas lands!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. KPS Excavation removed trees and vegetation from the back of our property. The clearing enhanced the view of our stream and allowed us to plant wildflowers and create meadow. Luke was great to work with and would highly recommend Luke.
