Pond Water Inlet Re-Construction, MAple Hill, Kansas

This project involved transforming an overgrown and unmanaged drainage area into a properly graded pond water inlet designed to improve water flow and reduce erosion.

Before work began, the area consisted of brush, trees, and uneven ground that limited proper runoff into the pond. After clearing the vegetation, we graded the inlet and constructed a terrace to direct water efficiently while protecting the surrounding land.

The completed project provides a clean, functional inlet that improves drainage, controls erosion, and supports long-term pond performance.

This pond had been struggling to maintain water levels due to years of overgrowth and washouts within the water inlet, which limited the amount of runoff reaching the pond.

Clearing the trees and brush was the first step in restoring a more efficient inlet.

With all trees and brush removed, the pond water inlet is fully opened, exposing the drainage channel and preparing the site for grading and erosion control improvements.

The pond water inlet was graded to establish proper water flow into the pond while creating a smooth surface for drill seeding. This helps control erosion, reduce sediment runoff, and maintain the inlet area long-term.
